Vertiv plans to expand its manufacturing and testing footprint in Ireland and the North West, adding capacity to support growing global demand for critical digital infrastructure used in artificial intelligence (AI), colocation and hyperscale data center deployments.
The company said it will submit an application to Donegal County Council for an additional 7,000 square metres of space at its Letterkenny facility. The planned expansion could create up to 300 new jobs in the region.
The investment comes as data center operators and technology companies accelerate infrastructure deployment to support increasingly demanding AI workloads. Vertiv provides power, cooling and other critical infrastructure technologies designed to support data centers and industrial applications.
Vertiv Has Added More Than 500 Employees in Ireland in 2026
Vertiv said it has already onboarded more than 500 employees across its Irish facilities since the beginning of 2026 and continues to recruit for positions across its operations.
The company’s Irish footprint includes facilities in Letterkenny, Burnfoot and Campsie in Derry, as well as a Central Procurement Office in Limerick and a sales and service office in Dublin.
The planned expansion is expected to increase manufacturing capacity while strengthening Vertiv’s engineering and technical capabilities in areas including power, cooling and industrialized infrastructure solutions.
According to Vertiv, the additional roles will include engineering and operational positions supporting its manufacturing operations and global infrastructure business.
Letterkenny Expansion Targets AI and Data Center Infrastructure
Vertiv’s investment reflects the growing importance of power and thermal management infrastructure as data centers adapt to higher-density computing environments.
AI workloads can require substantially greater power and cooling capacity than conventional computing infrastructure. This is increasing demand for technologies that can help data center operators deploy high-performance computing capacity efficiently and at scale.

The proposed Letterkenny project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland, Ireland’s inward investment agency.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin welcomed the planned expansion, saying the investment would contribute to regional economic development while demonstrating continued international business confidence in Ireland.
Peter Burke, Ireland’s Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, also highlighted the role of Vertiv’s Letterkenny operations within the country’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said Vertiv’s continued growth in County Donegal demonstrates the ability of multinational companies to scale high-value operations from regional locations.
