Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that it will provide $347 million to help cover Yemen’s budget shortfall, as the war-torn country continues to face a deep economic crisis and shortages of basic public services.
According to Saudi officials, the financial support is meant to help Yemen’s government pay salaries, maintain essential services, and stabilize the national economy. Yemen has been struggling with high inflation, a weak currency, and reduced government revenue after years of conflict. Millions of people rely on public sector wages and international aid to meet basic needs.
The funding will be delivered through official financial channels and coordinated with international partners to ensure transparency. Saudi authorities said the support is part of the Kingdom’s continued efforts to assist the Yemeni people and promote stability in the region.
Yemen’s government welcomed the announcement, calling it timely support at a moment when the country is facing severe budget pressure. Analysts say such financial assistance can help prevent further economic collapse, but long-term recovery depends on political stability and lasting peace.
The conflict in Yemen has damaged infrastructure, weakened state institutions, and disrupted trade and food supplies. Humanitarian agencies warn that without sustained financial and political support, the economic situation could worsen, increasing hardship for ordinary citizens.
Saudi officials reiterated that economic aid must go hand in hand with diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and move toward a durable political settlement.
